Be Part of our Australian Dance Week 2018 Events!

Ausdance WA has three major events happening across Australian Dance Week 2018. Here are the three events broken down for you, plus the FIVE extra ways you can get involved as an Ausdance member.

DANCE DAY
Presented by Ausdance WA, Act-Belong-Commit and supported by the City of Perth.
Date: Sunday, 29 April 2018
Times: 3 pm – 5 pm
Location: Forrest Place stage (Perth CBD)

The official launch event to celebrate Australian Dance Week, Dance Dayfalls on International Dance Day in 2018, and is a great afternoon of colour, culture, music and movement set in the heart of the city. The audience at DANCE DAY will also be treated to the free Bollywood workshop in the interval!

Performance groups in 2018 include:
Ancestrais Capoeira / AusAsia Creative Art Academy / Bollywood Dance Studio / Charlesworth Ballet Institute / Chung Wah Dance / Dance in Perspective / Etnia Latina / Kuerazo Latin Dance Productions / Kukuleczka Inc / K2Dance / Perth Swing Dance Academy / The Sambanistas / West Coast Bhangra and more…

Ausdance WA members, there’s still an opportunity for your group to perform! This year Australia is hosting the International event  Big Dance to raise the profile of dance worldwide. Big Dance 2018 has been choreographed by acclaimed indigenous choreographer Frances Rings and will be performed in WA as part of the DANCE DAY event. AUSTRALIAN DANCE WEEK OPEN CLASSES
Presented by Ausdance WA, Act-Belong-Commit and supported by the City of Perth.
Date: Monday 30 April – Saturday 5 May 2018
Times: Various
Location: King Street Arts Centre Studios

Following the Dance Day launch event, we invite you to come and try a range of FREE dance classes on offer every morning and evening of the working week, plus some Saturday classes. Whether you’re a dance pro or a new kid on the block, we have something for you! All you have to do is register on the website to secure your spot! Don’t miss out, as these classes will fill up fast!

TRIGGER
Presented by Ausdance WA, Act-Belong-Commit and supported by the City of Perth.
Date: Saturday 5 May 2018
Times: 5pm – 9pm
Location: James Street Amphitheatre, Perth Cultural Centre

TRIGGER is a free public dance event at the Perth Cultural Centre to wrap up Australian Dance Week events for 2018. Set up like a dance-karaoke, TRIGGER features live flash-mob performances from Perth’s urban dance community and encourages both trained and untrained bodies to have a groove together under the stars.

In 2018, we also invite all those who have attended a free class during Dance Week Open Classes to join in, try out some new moves and celebrate the final event of Australian Dance Week. And even if you can’t be there, remember to nominate your #triggersong on social media to add it to our playlist of dance hits!

FIVE EXTRA WAYS FOR AUSDANCE MEMBERS TO GET INVOLVED

1) TELL US: Do you have an event happening during Australian Dance Week 2018: 29 April – 5 May? Tell us, and we can help to promote your performance, class, workshop or event to our networks. Submit information about your event here by Wednesday 25 April. Let’s celebrate the week together with dancing opportunities galore!

2) SHOW US: Tag your Instagram dance videos with #dancegrabs! Whip out your camera, grab some mates, and join our video feed by uploading your film to Instagram and tagging with #dancegrabs. These will be collected and broadcast throughout Australian Dance Week.

3) JOIN US: Don’t forget to come down and join in the celebrations at our Australian Dance Week events! If you are a member you can also be part of the 2018 Big Dance (contact po.wa@ausdance.org.au if you’d like to be involved). Of course, you can also join the audience at Dance Day and be treated to the free Bollywood workshop in the interval and take part in FREE Dance Week Open Classes. And even if your group isn’t performing, be sure to come down for some impromptu interactive disco action at TRIGGER!

4) PERFORM FOR US: Would you like the chance to be part of our Trigger live performance? Get your crew together, nominate your song on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter by tagging the track with #triggersong and come on down! But don’t forget to let us know you’re coming – contact po.wa@ausdance.org.au to express your interest!

5) PROMOTE WITH US: At the Ausdance WA Information Booth – Ausdance WA are accepting flyers, brochures, booklets and programs from our members to be on display at our booth, which will be set up at all Australian Dance Week events! This is a great opportunity to promote your business. Please send a maximum of 100 copies to the Ausdance WA office by Friday 20 April 2018.

We can’t wait to see our members getting in on the action this Australian Dance Week. It all kicks of at 3 pm on International Dance Day – Sunday 29 of April 2018 – in Forrest Place. See you there!
