Networking Nights 2018

Networking Nights at King Street Arts Centre are special events providing an opportunity for teachers to do just that – network. We have planned two nights during 2018 and have invited guest speakers to join us to get the conversation started.

Choreographer Laura Boynes will join media artist Sohan Ariel Hayes to talk to us about their relationship with technology in creating dance. They will each discuss their processes, collaborators and performance outcomes, and the challenges and triumphs that come with pushing the boundaries of dance.

Networking Night II – Traditional and Contemporary Aboriginal Dance

Time and date: 6.00pm – 7.30pm

Wednesday 14 November 2018

Venue: Large Meeting Room, Level 1, King Street Arts Centre, Perth

Writer, director and actor Ian Wilkes and Aboriginal contemporary choreographer Simon Stewart will join us to discuss where traditional dance sits in the contemporary setting. With the new K-10 Arts Curriculum entering schools in 2018, this is a timely opportunity to question our perceptions and expand our knowledge on how best to integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures into the classroom with respect to country/place, people and culture.
