Dance Fit free before and after work classes

Break the winter spell by getting active and involved in Dance. All without charge thanks to our sponsors, the City of Perth and Healthway, promoting the Act-Belong-Commit message.

Dance Fit is supported by Healthway, promoting the Act-Belong-Commit message, and the City of Perth to provide an opportunity to get moving. Run as a project within the Act-Belong-Commit Dance 100 program, this pilot project is launching this June and is offering one free week of dance-inspired fitness classes to who is aged 16+ and interested in starting a new healthy habit. Classes include Zumba, Floor Barre, Bolly Active and The Jungle Body. 

The program is starting Monday, 17 June to Friday, 21 June 2019 with class options before and after work hours. This is the perfect opportunity to get active in winter, break that spell and improve your overall happiness and mental health.

Being active, having a sense of belonging, and having a purpose in life all contribute to happiness and good mental health and wellbeing. 

Ausdance WA would like to thank our supporters Healthway and the City of Perth for making this fantastic program come to life.

Class Descriptions

Floor Barre & Body Conditioning

A ballet workout on the floor without any dance experience needed. 

Get a taste of what professional dancers do to maintain their tone and strength. Without the effort of standing up Floor Barre focuses on movement that is gravity assisted and resisted enforcing a neutral spine. Our Floor Barre will be run by the talented Floeur Alder, a talented professional dancer and choreographer.

Floeur will get your muscles toned and warmed up on the first morning of Dance Fit. Start your week off right!

Bolly Active

Bolly Active is an internationally accredited dance fitness program incorporating dance cardio, toning, resistance training, meditation and yoga to Bollywood hits. 

This unique fitness program is suitable for everyone, combining high and low interval training, toning, yoga and meditation.

Zumba

Danza Loca hosts Perth’s most popular Zumba class!! Have more fun LOSING WEIGHT than you ever thought possible! ZUMBA® with DANZA LOCA combines awesome music with Latin dance steps, scientific principles and dynamic high energy instructors, to deliver a low impact fat burning cardio workout that will MELT the kilos off your body!

You don’t need to know how to dance, and you can work at your own level.

Jungle Body KONGA & TYGA

Dance inspired workouts for even the most unco! The Jungle Body choreography is functional multi-joint, multi-muscle movement to provide you with strength, stability, power, mobility, endurance and flexibility. The class will be run by Amplified Fitness Perth.

KONGA / TYGA morning Mash up, is a fun dance fitness workout to hot hits set to get you ready to start your weekend with a bang!

Whether you love to dance or cannot dance at all the highly addictive fitness programs by The Jungle Body are for you! So dancers, dance Mums (or Dad’s) grab your sweat towel and water bottle and get moving with Tamara.

HoopFit

Hooping is just something that kids do, right? Wrong. Hooping is actually a great full body workout and is brilliant fun to boot! Hooping has positive effects on your body and your mind.

You can burn approximately 210 calories per 30 minute session, the equivalent of a half hour boot camp or cardio boxing workout.

Jungle Body VYPA

Dance inspired workouts for even the most unco! The Jungle Body choreography is functional multi-joint, multi-muscle movement to provide you with strength, stability, power, mobility, endurance and flexibility. The class will be run by Amplified Fitness Perth.

VYPA is an MMA, kickboxing inspired dance fitness, to get your body moving to hot music hits and old school music.

Whether you love to dance or cannot dance at all the highly addictive fitness programs by The Jungle Body are for you! So dancers, dance Mums (or Dad’s) grab your sweat towel and water bottle and get moving with Laura.

Frequently asked questions?

 

What should I wear?

Wear what you feel most comfortable working out in. All classes require runners except for Floor Barre   which will be run barefoot.

What should I bring?

Bring a sweat towel and water bottle. Each attendee will receive a Dance Fit water bottle and gift bag.

Can I have a shower after class?

Yes! King Street Arts Centre has private showers and change rooms which are accessible to Dance Fit participants. Just request access from the Ausdance WA representative there.

The program is designed to get you active this winter and try something new. Dance and dance-inspired fitness classes are a fantastic way to improve your mental and physical well being. The great thing about dance is it is non-competitive and open to individuals of all fitness range. Plus we think it’s a heap of fun too.
