Ausdance WA Moving Forward

Elevating the dance sector through advocacy, education and support

Ausdance WA is a membership-driven organisation dedicated to supporting and advocating for the dance sector in Western Australia.

It provides leadership, education, and resources for the dance community while working to develop audiences and industry capacity. Since losing core government funding in 2018, Ausdance WA has operated on reserves and primarily through volunteer efforts from 2020 to 2023.

Despite these challenges, Ausdance WA maintained strong partnerships with the national Ausdance network, allowing important advocacy projects to continue. Over the last 12 months, the local sector has increasingly sought Ausdance WA’s support and guidance. This led to a sector-wide consultation which was delivered in early 2024 with the //IN MOTION// report, supported by DLGSC and PUSH Management.

Now, Ausdance WA enters a new chapter, moving forward with a renewed spirit and a fresh focus on sector development. Backed by a new project grant from the state government, Ausdance WA is implementing an annual program for 2024–2025 to address the sector’s evolving needs.

This marks the beginning of a revitalised approach, designed to ensure that the organisation continues to be a strong voice for dance in Western Australia and plays an active role in shaping the future of the arts both in our own state and contributing to the national conversation.
