Ausdance WA is funded by the State Government of Western Australia through the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industry.
Presented by the West Australian Ballet as part of the 2015 Perth International Arts Festival
Pack a picnic, join your friends and settle in for some stunning ballet under the stars.
Headlining the Ballet at the Quarry program is the Australian premiere of international choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Zip Zap Zoom, an energetic fusion of hip hop, ballroom, cabaret and other dance forms. La Pluie, also by Ochoa, is a captivating, fluid pas de deux set to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, while the third piece, Steptext, brings the work of famed choreographer William Forsythe to West Australian Ballet for the first time.
Concluding the program is Hold the Forth by dancer and choreographer Daniel Roberts, who uses a quote from George Orwell’s 1984 to describe the new work – ‘War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength’.
Make sure you’re a part of this iconic Perth summer event.
