We’re Back!

By March 1, 2024No Comments

Hello and welcome back!

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you back to our audience as an Ausdance WA member or long-time supporter. We hope 2024 is off to a fine start for all of you.

Ausdance WA has been on ‘pause’ for nearly five years after our state government funding was withdrawn. The organisation has operated mainly in a volunteer capacity thanks to the generosity of our Director, Gabrielle Sullivan, supported by Finance Manager Natalie Johnson and our former Memberships Manager, Miranda De Baughn. During this time, strong partnerships with the national Ausdance network have ensured that our advocacy projects could continue, as well as some smaller ongoing projects such as Dance in Country Week and the ATAR Set Solo Workshops, in partnership with Creative Moves WA.

Happily, we now have the opportunity to ‘reboot’ Ausdance WA, thanks to project funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

Our first priority is to rebuild our relationships and communications with the dance sector, distributing a regular monthly e-news and providing a forum for sharing news, events and dance activities. If you have anything you’d like to promote, please reach out here:

Alongside this, it is important for our future to build our membership and membership services, and both tasks are at the forefront of our efforts. We are therefore offering FREE membership until 30 June 2024. Of course, you can decide to pay for your membership and contribute to our income as we rebuild. See more details on how to join and renew below:

Our major project at the beginning of this year will be to conduct consultation with industry sectors: teachers in schools, studio owners (including studio teachers), subsidised dance companies, independent dance artists and youth dance stakeholders. Don’t forgot to share Ausdance WA with a friend or colleague who might have dropped off our radar and would be interested in receiving future e-news editions from us. Increasing our audience ensures we can reach and service our community better.

I feel excited and energised by the proposed activities, and look forward to many conversations with you in the coming months.

Thanks,
Amy Wiseman
