A dynamic day of dance exploration, engagement tips and industry insights.

Presented by Ausdance WA, this professional learning day offers a trio of enriching workshops designed to inspire and equip secondary dance educators. Gain practical strategies from Candice D’Adamo (The Brothahood) for engaging boys and hesitant students using movement and simple hip hop-based choreographic tools to build confidence. Experience a Bollywood Workshop led by Ram Seewooruthun offering practical warm-ups, progressions and short sequences. Finally, join a panel of local makers including Rachel Ogle from pvi collective who will share insights and discuss current trends on the use of technology and innovation in dance.

Workshop Sessions

Adapting the Curriculum to Engage Boys in Your Dance Class:

Facilitated by Candice D’Adamo, Dance Specialist at Whitford Catholic Primary School and Co-Director of The Brothahood, this physical workshop will deliver curriculum based adjustments and offer ideas for co-curricular programs to encourage boys’ engagement in dance. The workshop will also offer resources to support teachers in the classroom.

Facilitator: Candice D’Adamo

Bollywood Workshop:

Facilitated by Ram Seewooruthun, this practical workshop will guide teachers through a Bollywood routine with a rich vocabulary of combinations, choreographed at beginner/intermediate level for secondary learners. Ram will then deconstruct the routine, sharing insights into the individual components such as rhythm, footwork, and style, and welcoming an informed dialogue to support understanding and curiosity.

Using Technology and Innovation in Dance – Different Approaches by Local Makers:

Join a panel of local makers including Rachel Ogle from pvi collective Tyrone Earl Lraé Robinson from OFF-base Dance, who will share insights and discuss current trends on the use of technology and innovation in dance
