King Street Art Centre Studios Hirers’ Update March 2016

By March 11, 2016No Comments

Hello King Street Arts Centre Studio Hirers!

First of all, we appreciate very much the patience and understanding of our hirers as Ausdance WA staff have taken over new studio management tasks. In this time a few issues of note have come up that need to be clarified.

The Studio Guidelines are available on the Studios page of the Ausdance WA website and have now also been posted on the pin-up board outside studio 2, with some key issues highlighted for your attention. Please take the time to read all the guidelines if you are not already familiar.

There have also been some issues raised by our hirers that should be addressed for all.

Issues of Note:

Cancellation Policy:
Please be reminded that the cancellation policy detailed in the Studio Guidelines states that 24 hours notice is required to cancel a booking or the full fee will be charged.

Booking Procedure: Casual bookings are to be paid in advance. The studios MUST be booked with Ausdance WA in advance even if the space is vacant. Please note that as there are often daily changes to the schedule, additional bookings may have been made since the schedule was uploaded online or placed on the pin-up board.

Invoicing and Receipting: Our Finance Officer works one day a week therefore invoices and receipts will only be issued weekly.

Air Conditioning: Air conditioning has been serviced and is working to the best of its ability. Please note that, as it is an evaporative system, the windows must be open for it to function correctly and it can take 10 – 20 minutes to cool a room down.

Keeping studio 1 cool:
In addition, we recommend closing the blinds in studio 1 during the day (about 90%, leaving some space for air to get out the windows). This helps keep the room much cooler and prevents excessive strain on the air conditioning. Please close the blinds if you are the last studio hirer at night, to keep the early morning sun out.

Studio Swapping between hirers: Please do not swap from the studio that you have booked. If this must happen for some essential reason at the time, please notify Ausdance WA during business hours.

Studio Swaps by Ausdance WA: From time to time a tarkett is laid in the hard floor studios by KSAC resident companies. This means that bookings may need to be swapped so that the tarkett is not damaged or to meet other needs of the KSAC resident companies (please see section on Priority Access for KSAC residents outlined in Studio Guidelines). We will contact you to notify of swaps but please always check the schedule on the board outside studio 2.

First Aid Supplies: Please note that, in the same ways as it is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure the wellbeing of their students/participants through appropriate insurance cover, it is also their responsibility to provide first aid supplies.

Equipment and Furniture: Please do not remove yellow chairs from the green room. If you move any furniture PLEASE return it to where it came from, inside or outside of the studio.

Lost Property: As per the Studio Guidelines Ausdance WA is not liable for any loss or damage to personal effects (or money) of the hirers and their associates. Lost property is kept in the cupboard in the green room.

General state of the studio: We have received complaints and have noted ourselves that the studios are often not left in a considerate state for the next hirer. Please tidy up!

Damage: If you do damage the studios or any equipment your honesty is appreciated as studio damage can affect the experience of all hirers. As per the Studio Guidelines you are liable for any damage caused by your activity.

Thanks very much for your continuing understanding in these matters and for helping to make the studio experience better for all!

Kind Regards,

The Ausdance WA Team.
